Guy Verhofstadt was Prime Minister of Belgium from 1999 to 2008 and since 2009 he is the leader of the liberals in the European Parliament. Under his premiership, Belgium underwent a drastic evolution. Verhofstadt is known for his enthusiasm, rhetorical talent and voluntarism. He can provide a unique insight into what is going on in European politics. Verhofstadt wants to turn Europe into a strong federation, the very same political structure the Americans chose two hundred years ago.
Jacques de Larosière is a French central banker. At present, he is Chairman of the ‘Observatoire de l’Epargne Européenne’ and Chairman of the Strategic Committee of the Agence France-Trésor. In addition, he is the former Managing Director of the IMF. Other positions he previously assumed include Governor of the Banque de France, Advisor to the Chairman of BNP Paribas, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and member of the influential financial advisory body G30.
