Guy Verhofstadt was Prime Minister of Belgium from 1999 to 2008 and since 2009 he is the leader of the liberals in the European Parliament. Under his premiership, Belgium underwent a drastic evolution. Verhofstadt is known for his enthusiasm, rhetorical talent and voluntarism. He can provide a unique insight into what is going on in European politics. Verhofstadt wants to turn Europe into a strong federation, the very same political structure the Americans chose two hundred years ago.

Jacques de Larosière is a French central banker. At present, he is Chairman of the ‘Observatoire de l’Epargne Européenne’ and Chairman of the Strategic Committee of the Agence France-Trésor. In addition, he is the former Managing Director of the IMF. Other positions he previously assumed include Governor of the Banque de France, Advisor to the Chairman of BNP Paribas, President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and member of the influential financial advisory body G30.

Gideon Rachman is one of the most important Europe-based foreign affairs correspondents. He writes a weekly column on international politics. Before joining the FT, he worked for The Economist for 15 years in a range of jobs, including as a foreign correspondent in Brussels and Washington. He received the 2016 Orwell Prize for journalism, Britian’s most prestigious prize for political writing and the 2016 European Press Prize: Commentator Award.
